For the second year, the Kendra Couch Classic has chosen the Salk Conquering Cancer Initiative to be this year's beneficiary, to support continuing education for postdoctoral students and graduate students. For the past ten years, the philanthropic high school baseball tournament is hosted by Mt. Carmel High School to bring awareness and raise money for cancer research. The cancer awareness tournament is made up of many teams covering San Diego County and the teams play with personalized jerseys in honor or memory of a loved one who is going through a cancer journey.
